About Us

Our business opened in 1959 At 116 N. Orion Ave. Clearwater, Fl. 33765 with my grandparents (Vince and Thelma Radcliffe) as Radcliffe Custom Draperies. They specialized in the fabrication of custom fabric window treatments, with an emphasis on custom-made draperies. During these years it was often said that nobody made a better drapery than the Radcliffe's. They work with all the most prominent Interior Designers in the Tampa Bay Area. My parents (Vince and Sherry Radcliffe) came on board in 1969, my mom as a seamstress in the workroom and my dad as an installer. My mom eventually left the workroom, to help my dad with installations, and put the finishing touch on all fabric treatments that we manufactured. (Nobody could dress a window better than my mom!)

In 1980, my grandparents retired and my parents took the helm with a new name "Radcliffe Custom Interiors". Still with an emphasis on custom fabric treatments. Our reputation grew and my parents started making weekly trips up and down the West Coast of Florida to provide High-End Designers with the vast array of products we manufactured. This came to its apex when they started working in Naples and then in Bonita Springs for two of the most sought-after designers in that area, which is when my parents hired my partner David as an installer.A year later when my father retired, I join the family business as a designer and we started to provide full scope Design Services in the Tampa Bay area. It was also at this time that we incorporated on a much larger scale the sale of all Hunter Douglas Products, to our clients, as well as other designers' clients at this. At this period of time David was in charge of the workroom, installations and billing, my mom figured all the Estimates, Fabric yardages and selected most of what we supplied to other designers. I primarily stayed local and was in charge of our Retail Design Services, focusing on redoing many of the homes that were built in the late 1980s and early 1990s when pastels were all the rage. Now with an established clientele I began doing a lot of new construction, focused on the beaches, like Sand Key.

During this period the three of us worked in great harmony and our business grew exponentially. When my mom decided to retire early due to health constraints, David and I took over the business and once again changed our name to "Equinox Interiors" shortly after my mom's retirement. Taking into account the changing design aesthetic, David and I decided that we would no longer manufacture window treatments in house (at the N.Orion Location) so that we could devote all of our space into a full-service Design Showroom, for our clients, and also open to other Designers, who use our space for our extensive Fabric Trim and Hardware Collections in addition to their Hunter Douglas needs. Focusing on providing the most accurate and comprehensive knowledge of today's modernization of the Design Industry. And now showcase all of the wide range of products that Hunter Douglas has to offer with everything displayed and most automated.
